A new report indicates the Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG will not be a replacement of the SLS AMG.

The SLC AMG (internally known as C190) is a new model that Mercedes-Benz has already confirmed. Up until now it was believed this will serve as a replacement of the SLS AMG even though the cars are different from one another. The SLC will be smaller and lighter than the SLS and is said to rival the Porsche 911 once it comes out in 2015 or 2016. It will lose the SLS' gullwing doors and should come with a trunk-mounted spoiler and a dual exhaust setup.

CarSales.com.au says the SLC AMG will be sold alongside the SLS AMG. The same source mentions the SLC's design will look significantly different than what we have seen so far in spy photos/video. It will reportedly feature a shortened version of the spaceframe chassis created for the bigger SLS.

Chances are the SLC AMG is going to be powered by a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine delivering 485 HP (357 kW). There are rumors of an S variant outputting 550 HP (404 kW), along with a more powerful Black Series version delivering 585 HP (430 kW).

Pricing should kick off from about 109,000 EUR (141,000 USD / 92,800 GBP).
