Today we bring significantly better spy shots of the upcoming 2014 Nissan Qashqai which will allegedly be unveiled in November.

We know already the second-gen Qashqai is going to be more upscale and will have an innovative design, according to Nissan's executive vice-president Andy Palmer. It is believed the new Qashqai will take styling cues from the Hi-Cross Concept revealed last year at the Geneva Motor Show. A recent report indicates Nissan is not planning a seven-seat version of the Qashqai since this role will be reserved to the new X-Trail.

The 2014 Qashqai is likely to make use of a new modular platform which will underpin several new sedans and the aforementioned X-Trail. Front-wheel drive will be standard while all-wheel drive will come at an additional cost.

As far as engine lineup is concerned, expect a 1.6-liter diesel and a supercharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine rated at 113 bhp (84 kW) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) of torque. A plug-in hybrid version is in the works but it won't be out until at least 2015.
