Chrysler has officially unveiled the 2014 Ram 1500.
Since the model was recently given an extensive facelift, the truck has minor updates including a revised color palette - that now includes Blue Streak and Granite Crystal - and a new front park assist system that can detect objects that are up to 47.2 inches (120 cm) away. There's also a variable displacement air compressor and a pulse-width modulation blower which help to reduce parasitic engine loss to improve fuel efficiency.
The big news is the addition of a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine that produces 240 bhp (179 kW) and 420 lb-ft (568 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which will enable the truck to have a best-in-class fuel economy rating.
The 2014 Ram 1500 will be priced from $24,200 which excludes a $1,095 destination charge. Trucks equipped with the EcoDiesel engine will cost $2,850 more than similarly equipped models with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
