Unknown Porsche prototype burns in employee's garage

Today we bring an interesting story from Ludwigsburg, Germany where an unknown Porsche burned on Tuesday night inside the garage of a Porsche employee.

According to local media, the Porsche employee drove the prototype home after work and parked it into the garage. Several hours later he noticed a fire coming from his garage and called the firefighters right away. In the meantime, he tried to put out the fire with assistance from his wife but without any success. No less than 19 firefighters arrived and stopped the fire but it was too late as Porsche estimates damages to 1.3M EUR (probably including both car and garage/house).

A Porsche spokesperson immediately declared the prototype's powertrain was not the cause of this fire, adding that test and measurement equipment installed on the prototype could have caused the incident. It's not clear whether the Porsche prototype (model not yet commercially available) had some form of a hybrid setup (918 Spyder or Panamera S E-Hybrid) but it's interesting that the person who drove the car home was not a Porsche test driver. If it wasn't a hybrid, most likely the prototype was a Macan.
