Lotus has established a new company called Lotus Motorcycles which is already working on its first product, the C-01.

Some of the important names within the newly founded firm are ex VW Group designer Daniel Simon, auto racing team Kodewa and Germany's Holzer Group. The C-01 is being described as a "hyper bike" and from what we can see in this official teaser photo it will have a carbon fiber fuel tank with Lotus' black & gold livery.

Details are scarce at the moment, but the C-01 is rumored to have an engine delivering 200 bhp (149 kW) and the motorcycle will be made from a mixture of carbon fiber, titanium and aerospace-grade steel. Daniel Simon will be in charge of design and will take inspiration from the Lotus 49 racecar while "all color schemes pay homage to iconic Lotus racing liveries, such as the dashing black and gold.”

Expect more details in the upcoming weeks.
