Mazda has teamed up with Microsoft to announce plans to stage the global debut of an all-new model on Xbox consoles.

The car will be unveiled in New York on June 26th and the whole event will be streamed through Xbox Live. Besides seeing the all-new model, viewers will be treated to a concert by Metric.

According to Mazda's U.S. vice president of marketing, Russell Wager, "It's a digitally connected world, so what better way to reach our customers than through a connected platform like Xbox." He also added, "We were looking for a way to launch a global product and tie together our five separate reveals (in Melbourne, Petersburg, Istanbul, London, and New York City). Xbox not only gave us the platform, but allowed us to leverage our digital assets to drive a global audience to view the event."

Mazda declined to say what they will introduce but all indications point to the 2014 Mazda3. If this is the case, we can expect a sporty hatchback with a Kodo design and a variety of Skyactiv engines.
