Despite looking like a facelifted version of the current model, speculation suggests the prototype is actually a mule for the next-generation Galaxy that will ride on the same platform that underpins the new Mondeo.

The 2014 Ford Galaxy has spied undergoing testing in Europe.

Despite looking like a facelifted version of the current model, speculation suggests the prototype is actually a mule for the next-generation Galaxy that will ride on the same platform that underpins the new Mondeo.

Little is known about the MPV, but engine options will likely carryover over from the Mondeo. This means choices could include a 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 125 HP (92 kW), a 1.5-liter EcoBoost with 179 HP (132 kW) and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that develops 231 HP (170 kW) and 340 Nm (250 lb-ft) of torque. We can also expect a variety of diesels as well as a hybrid variant.

The redesigned Galaxy was expected to debut early next year, but it remains unclear if the European restructuring has pushed back the model's introduction.
