Porsche halts Panamera and Cayenne production after flood affects supplies

[update 07.06.2013] Porsche has resumed production.

Porsche has shut down production today at the assembly plant in Leipzig, Germany because floods affected supplies.

A Porsche spokesman declared to the media "we have a bottleneck in the supply of car bodies built in the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, which are transported by train across the Czech Republic to our plant in Leipzig."

Because of this problem Porsche had to stop producing the Cayenne and Panamera models. At the Leipzig factory workers build 450 vehicles each day in three shifts and at a later date Porsche will add extra shifts to offset the loss of output occurred because of the flood.

BMW also has a plant in Leipzig but according to one of the firm's spokesman there aren't any supply shortages at this moment.
