Volvo fans will be in for a surprise at the Pan-American games, starting in Rio De Janeiro tomorrow, when a 1:5 scale electric miniature Volvo C30 will roll out on the field. The mini-C30 will help in the throwing disciplines and has been developed to ensure quick and smooth transport of javelins, hammers and discuses back to athletes. The car will fit either four discuses, three javelins or two hammers. - The Volvo C30 is the smallest Volvo model on the market, and this particular Volvo C30 is much smaller but just as cool as its big sister, says Lennart Ekdahl, project leader for the mini-Volvo. The car is radio controlled and has been hand-built by Volvo on a chassis made by Nordic Sport. The electric motor produces two horsepower, accelerating the car to a top speed of 20 km/h (5 mph). Unfortunately, the car will not be for sale to the general public.
