Porsche says Panamera S-E Hybrid consumed 4.4 liters / 100 km during 42 journalist test drives

Porsche has organized a series of test drives with the 2014 Panamera S-E Hybrid to analyze the car's fuel consumption in real world conditions.

42 test drives were conducted by journalists who covered a distance of more than 1,200 km (745 miles). The average fuel consumption was of 4.4 liters / 100 km (53.45 mpg US or 64.20 mpg UK). The lowest fuel consumption was registered at only 2.8 liters / 100 km (84 mpg US or 100 mpg UK).

These tests were done with four stock Panamera S-E Hybrids each carrying three or four people. The 28.7 km (17.8 miles) test circuit consisted of 6.5 km (4 miles) of Hockenheim city driving, 9.2 km (5.7 miles) of country roads and 13 km (8 miles) of Autobahn driving. Climate control was turned on during testing, while on the Autobahn cars hit up to 230 km/h (143 miles).

As a reminder, the 2014 Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid is rated at 3.1 liters / 100 km (75.8 mpg US or 91.1 mpg UK) in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). During journalist testing, the car achieved the NEDC-approved 36 km (22.3 miles) electric range.
