Looking basically like a French Golf VII, the new generation of the 308 is considerably a looker compared to its predecessor. It's lower and shorter than before, and up to 308 lbs (140 kg) lighter which helps the most economical version have CO2 emissions of just 85 g/km.

Inside the cabin there's more room available for the passengers, while cargo space has been increased to 470 liters. It rides on PSA's new EMP2 platform and comes with a similar steering wheel / heads-up instrument cluster as seen in the smaller 208. The 2014 Peugeot 308 has fewer buttons than before as these were mostly replaced by a large 9.7-inch touchscreen display which probably won't be to everyone's liking.

It will make its public debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and go on sale shortly after.
