General Motors North America President Mark Reuss has revealed his desire to offer an affordable rear-wheel drive sports car.

Speaking to Automotive News, Reuss said "A really nice, light, rear-drive car that's inexpensive -- we know that rings a bell." Despite expressing interest in the model, Reuss confirmed there are currently no plans for such a vehicle.

Chevrolet has previously hinted at a Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ competitor with the Code 130R concept. Reuss said the model received "strong feedback," but any production vehicle "would not do that design." He also confirmed the model would not ride on the Alpha platform but rather a new architecture that is "really scaleable and efficient."
