Car & Driver reports Alfa Romeo is currently developing a new sedan and coupe which will receive the 6C nameplate.

Both models will be powered by the same twin-turbo V6 engines co-developed by Maserati with Ferrari for the recently unveiled Ghibli. Aside from engines, the Alfa Romeo 6C is likely to borrow the platform of the baby Quattroporte but with a sportier handling and a more aggressive styling. Chances are it could take Ferrari FF's all-wheel drive system and/or other drivetrain components from Maranello such as the dual-clutch gearbox.

In terms of styling, Alfa Romeo could decide to adopt some of the styling cues seen on the equally beautiful IED Gloria and Alex Imnadze's 6C concepts. The sedan is actually expected to be a sleek four-door coupe due in 2015 as a 2016MY, with plans of selling 40,000 units annually.
