Citroen has unveiled at 2013 Auto Shanghai the DS Wild Rubis Concept, following an online reveal earlier this month.

The crossover is 4.70m long, 1.95m wide and 1.59m tall, with a 2.9m wheelbase. Power comes from a 1.6-liter THP gasoline engine producing 225 HP (165 kW) which works together with an electric motor installed on the rear axle generating an additional 70 HP (51.5 kW). The latter is powered by a lithium-ion battery which can be charged from a regular household socket.

Wild Rubis can run in electric mode for up to 31 miles (50 km) and in hybrid mode has CO2 emissions of only 43 g/km. When the driver accelerates sharply or when the grip is poor, the crossover will automatically switch to four-wheel drive mode, with the internal combustion engine driving the front wheels while the electric motor powers the rear axle.
