Infiniti has announced plans to build a long wheelbase version of the Q50 in China.
The model will be built alongside the QX50 crossover at the company's Xiangyang plant in the Hubei Province. Both models will be tailored to the Chinese market and production is slated to begin in 2014.
According to Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen, "China is a key market in Infiniti’s growth strategy. The decision to offer two vehicles specifically designed for the Chinese market and produce them locally, is further evidence of our globalization strategy."
Besides announcing plans for local production, Infiniti showcased the new Q50 which will be offered with a hybridized 3.5-liter V6 engine as well as a naturally-aspirated 3.7-liter V6 which churns out 328 bhp (244 kW) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque. It will go on sale in China in the spring of 2014.
