Volkswagen has launched the estate version of the Lavida last weekend at 2013 Auto Shanghai.

One of the many VW offerings presented in Shanghai is the Gran Lavida which will be made only for the Chinese market at the firm's Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. It has the same wheelbase as the sedan, but overall length has gone down from 4605mm to 4454mm.

As you would imagine, engine lineup will be borrowed from the sedan, including a 1.4-liter turbocharged unit with 130 bhp (97 kW) and a 1.6-liter with 104 bhp (77 kW).

It rides on the PQ34 platform and will compete in the lower-end segment once it reaches production in June. Gran Lavida is just one of the models Volkswagen is launching in China as part of an objective to have no less than 90 models by 2015.
