The first sketches with the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept have surfaced the web ahead of the vehicle's debut scheduled for this weekend at 2013 Auto Shanghai.

After the seven-seater CrossBlue Concept showed in Detroit at the beginning of the year, Volkswagen is bringing to Shanghai the coupe version which possibly hints at a new design approach for the next-gen Tiguan. The concept is 4.89 meters long, 2.02 meters wide and has a 2.98-meter wheelbase.

Power comes from a direct-injection V6 turbocharged gasoline engine working together with two electric motors to provide a combined output of 415 bhp (309 kW). This setup allows the concept to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds and have a fuel consumption of 3 liters / 100 km (78.4 mpg US / 94.1 mpg UK). In electric mode it can travel for up to 20.5 miles (33 km).

More details should be available shortly.
