Hot hatches are becoming increasingly more powerful and it looks like the upcoming Seat Leon Cupra won't buck the trend.

According to Autocar's sources, the next-generation Cupra will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops up to 261 bhp (192 kW). This could enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately six seconds.

To keep things under control, we can expect a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and a limited-slip differential.

Little else is known about the model, but it will reportedly be offered in three- and five-door variants. Seat's Design Chief, Alejandro Mesonero, has also hinted "The new Cupra is already more than a current Cupra R" so expect sportier styling as well.

The Seat Leon Cupra could be unveiled later this year or early next year, so expert to learn more in the coming months.
