Skoda has released the first images and details with the facelifted Superb ahead of the car's debut at 2013 Auto Shanghai.

Scheduled for a public reveal in the second part of April, the 2013 Superb brings modest updates to an aging model. The front fascia and A-pillars have been lightly revised, with the hood and grille going through some minor changes as well.

It comes with Skoda's new logo and wears a tweaked front bumper and fog lights. Various new 16- to 18-inch wheel choices and Moon White and Meteor Gray metallic paints are available as well as bi-xenon headlamps with built-in LED daytime running lights. Lastly, the back shows bigger LED taillights, a reworked trunk lid and revised bumper.

Inside it can have one of the nine three- or four-spoke steering wheels, new trims and upholstery fabrics, while the range-topping Laurin & Klement variant can be ordered with a new brown and beige ivory color combo.

Skoda has added stop/start and brake energy regeneration promising to provide a 19 percent fuel economy gain. The most frugal variant is the Superb GreenLine which consumes 4.2 liters / 100 km (56 mpg US or 67.2 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. Engine lineup includes a 1.4-liter TSI with 125 HP (92 kW), joined by a 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel with 140 HP (103 kW) / 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) and 170 HP (125 kW) / 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).

The sedan provides 595 liters of cargo room, while the more practical Combi has 633 liters for storage. Once the rear seats are folded, sedan has 1700 liters and estate has 1865 liters to offer. Goodies available include a jumbo box in the center console, panoramic glass roof with solar cells, automatic parking assistant and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 30 GB hard drive.

In terms of security, the refreshed Superb has nine airbags, three-point seatbelts, ABS, ESP, adjustable head restraints and Park Assist offered as standard. For more money clients can order a tire pressure monitor system, hill assist, adaptive headlights and driver activity assistant which warns the driver in case of fatigue.

The 2013 Skoda Superb facelift will go on sale in Europe in the second quarter of the year.
