Porsche plans to make more efforts on hybrid technology for its future models.
With Ferrari and McLaren hybridizing their latest supercars, Porsche is doing the same with the highly-anticipated 918 Spyder due later this year. The 918 Spyder will emphasize Porsche's focus on hybrid technology that will be seen in future models.
In an interview given to Automotive News, Porsche's R&D Chief Wolfgang Hatz said plug-in hybrid powertrains are very important for the company. Interestingly, he added testing of electric vehicles is already happening but EVs aren't a high priority for Porsche right now since these don't offer enough range. As a consequence, we won't see an electric Porsche sports car in the next several years.
