Fiat will stop launching more variants of the 500 once the crossover (500X) comes out sometime next year.

The latest entry in the lineup is the five-seat MPV 500L which will be followed by a larger seven-seat 500XL variant in September. The last model in the lineup is going to be the 500X crossover which is set for a 2014 debut. Fiat brand chief Gianluca Italia mentioned the 500X is going to be "our way to tackle the C-segment in an effective way."

A Punto replacement and more Panda versions have been confirmed, with Italia adding the Panda "will always remain functional and accessible." He also confirmed a TwinAir-powered version of the Panda is en route, most likely with a two-cylinder, 0.9-liter engine producing 105 bhp (78 kW).
