According to a recent report, the 2014 Chrysler 200 will have a shortened production run to make room for the next-generation model which is expected to debut at the North American International Auto Show.

Automotive News has reportedly attained documents that show the 2014 Chrysler 200 will have a shortened production run to make room for the next-generation model which is expected to debut at the North American International Auto Show.

According to the documents, the 2014 Chrysler 200 will only be built between July 2013 and January 2014. The shortened production run should enable the company to build up enough inventory until the 2015 model is launched.

Little is known about the next-generation 200, but it is expected to be based on a Fiat-derived platform and come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Previous reports have indicated it will be about the same size as an Audi A4 and be offered as a sedan, coupe and convertible. A variety of four- and six-cylinder engines are expected as well as an optional all-wheel drive system.
