The plug-in diesel-electric hybrid sport utility truck (SUT) features a 2.5-liter Mitsubishi Clean Diesel engine working together with an electric motor mounted at the front. It also has an automatic gearbox, while the battery pack is installed within the ladder frame. This hardware setup allows the GR-HEV to emit only 149 g/km of CO2 which represents a new low in this segment.
The vehicle utilizes the firm's full-time four-wheel drive system with Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) for better off- and on-road performances, improved stability during towing and torque regulation for a fast response. The concept is 5420mm long, 1930mm wide and 1775mm, with a 3000mm wheelbase enough for a five-seating capacity inside.
It's envisioned as a future L200 model with a long load bed and a "3D-sculpted shape of the cabin". It has trapezoidal wheel arches and helix-complex rear combination LED taillights. Mitsubishi went for a low roofline with twin elongated satin-finished side mouldings, while the front shows wraparound diamond-like headlamps. It rides on lightweight, three-spoke alloy wheels with non-alloy spokes.
