Holden Racing Team has officially unveiled the 2013 VF Commodore V8 Supercars race car.

Holden Racing Team has officially unveiled the 2013 VF Commodore V8 Supercars race car.

Following the launch of the facelifted VF Commodore, Holden has introduced the V8 Supercar Champions-eligible race car which meets the new Car Of The Future regulations. The new rules require all cars to ride on a shared "control" chassis but the power units and exteriors can be different.

Under the hood is a V8 5.0-liter Chevrolet engine producing approximately 650 hp (485 kW) transferred to rear wheels through a sequential gearbox. The styling of the car previews the upcoming hotter SS V Commodore which represents the performance variant of the 2013 VF Commodore.

This year's V8 Supercars season kicks off on February 16 when the official testing begins at Sydney Motorsport Park, prior to the first race (Clipsal 500) scheduled for March 3 in the Adelaide, Australia.
