McLaren has released video footage with a P1 prototype, ahead of an official unveiling slated for later this year.

As previously reported, the production version of the P1 will retain 97 percent of the concept's design and will suffer minor changes to the front bumper. The rear end will receive a tighter mesh design which will still show the supercar's mechanics.

Power will reportedly come from the same engine in the MP4-12C, but modified to produce approximately 800 hp (596 kW). The McLaren P1 is going to feature an F1-styled KERS adding additional horsepower for a few seconds.

With an aim at being the fastest car around the Nürburgring, the P1 will be limited to 500 units and is expected to cost 1.2M USD. It will go on sale towards the end of the year.
