The Smart ForTwo Electric Drive will be available in UK this spring from 12,275 GBP plus 55 GBP / month battery lease. The price tag includes a plug-in grant of almost 4,000 GBP.
Available in both coupe and cabrio versions, the ForTwo ED can be ordered with an optional 22 KW onboard charger that costs 2,650 GBP and can fully charge the battery in about one hour. With the regular charger, filling the battery takes approximately seven hours. The electric city car is based on the Passion variant and offers a range of up to 90 miles (145 km).
The 2013 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is powered by a 55 kW magneto electric motor and has an all-new 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. It can perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 11.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 78 mph (125 km/h).
The air conditioning system allows drivers to pre-heat or pre-cool the car for a programmed departure time. Priced at 155 GBP, the pedestrian sound module emits a familiar "vehicle on-the-road" noise while the 380 GBP driver assistance pack adds a three-spoke leather sports steering wheel with shift paddles, along with cruise control.
