Bugatti sold the last Veyron 16.4 a little over a year ago, but it appears Grand Sport production will continue into the foreseeable future as Ricardo has announced their seven-speed dual-clutch transmission contract has been renewed by the automaker.
The agreement stipulates that Ricardo will continue to supply Bugatti with new transmissions until the end of 2014. It remains unclear what will happen after that point, but as of a last year Bugatti had 105 Grand Sports left to build.
According to Mark Barge, Ricardo's director of high performance transmission products, “We are pleased to be able to announce this further extension of our longstanding and highly successful collaboration between Ricardo and Bugatti. The Veyron represents the ultimate in high quality automotive design, engineering and manufacture, and we are proud to have been able to extend the support provided to Bugatti in the design, engineering and manufacture its advanced DCT.”
