Maserati highlights the Quattroporte's development [video]

Maserati has released a new promotional video that highlights the development of the 2014 Quattroporte which will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show.

Filmed at the Balocco Proving Grounds, the car was tested at night so engineers could drive the model without camouflage to gauge its top speed. According to Chief test driver Fabrizio Galvan "The car is completely new from every point of view. It has a new propulsion unit, new suspensions, a new steering system, new styling, of course, and new interiors."

Under the hood, the entry-level model has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 410 HP (310 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h).

If that isn't fast enough, the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 produces 530 HP (390 kW) and 710 Nm (542 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the sedan to sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds, before topping out at 191 mph (307 km/h).
