Toyota advanced active safety research vehicle teased, will debut at CES

Toyota has announced plans to introduce an "advanced active safety research vehicle" at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Little is known about the vehicle, but the teaser image suggests it will be a prototype that is equipped with an autonomous driving system. This is further supported by the fact that Lexus Group Vice President Mark Templin will be on hand to discuss autonomous technologies and "high-level driver assistance systems" related to Toyota's Integrated Safety Management Concept. The executive will also talk about the company's vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technology.

Besides the research vehicle, Lexus will show a 2013 LS which has been equipped with the "world’s most advanced pre-collision safety system."

The Consumer Electronics Show kicks off on January 8th, so expect to learn more in the coming weeks.
