Toyota's 2013 Avalon is the first car in the world with support for in-console Qi wireless charging for Qi-enabled devices.

To get this feature you will have to opt for the Technology Package available for the gasoline and hybrid version of the Avalon Limited. This package also includes a Pre-Collision System, automatic high beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Qi-enabled devices can be charged by simply placing them on a Qi-enabled surface. In the 2013 Avalon, the wireless charging pad is located in the center console and it can be turned by a switch positioned beneath the lid.

Qi wireless charging technology is currently incorporated in 34 smartphones, including recent devices such as the LG Google Nexus 4, HTC Windows Phone 8X and the Nokia Lumia 920. There are other devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S III for which you will need a separate accessory.
