Cadillac has released the first teaser image of the 2014 ELR, ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Essentially a production version of the Converj concept, the ELR will be a luxurious coupe that combines a "dramatic design with industry-leading extended range."

There's no word on specifications, but Cadillac previously announced the car will feature an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a four-cylinder engine-generator. Like the Chevrolet Volt, the ELR will operate primarily on electricity but can utilize the four-cylinder engine to boost its range when the battery is low.

The ELR is scheduled to go into production late next year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
