The production version of the Renault Captur has been revealed in these leaked design sketches.

Unlike the impressive concept unveiled in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the production model will be nothing more than an oversized Clio IV. As a consequence, the engine lineup will probably be carried over and will be offered with an all-wheel drive system. It seems that Renault will apply the same recipe used by Ford for its Fiesta-based EcoSport.

We remind you the concept had a twin-turbo Energy dCi 160 engine producing 158 hp (118 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. It was linked to an EDC transmission that enabled the compact SUV to do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 131 mph (211 km/h).

A full reveal is expected at a major motor show next year, possibly in Geneva or Paris.
