With just one month to go, BMW has pulled ahead of Audi and Mercedes in the race to become the world's largest luxury automaker.
Through the first eleven months of the year, BMW has sold 1.38 million vehicles which is a 10.9 percent increase from a year ago. Similarly, Audi has moved 1.34 million models while Mercedes has sold 1.19 million vehicles - increases of 12.7 and 5.1 percent, respectively.
While BMW has a lofty lead in the global sales race, the three brands are duking it out on a national level. The pressure to win in key markets, such as Germany and the United States, has forced the companies to heavily incentivize their models which has reportedly helped to reduce BMW's profit margin by 2.3 percent.
