Following last week's teaser, Kia has released the first performance specifications for the upcoming cee’d and pro_cee’d GT.

Set to go on sale next year, the hot hatches will be powered by a 1.6-liter GDI engine that has been equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger and strengthened internal components. These changes will enable the mill to produce 204 HP (150 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. When paired to a six-speed manual transmission, the engine will allow the hatchbacks to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

Besides the extra grunt, the GTs will benefit from "significant" chassis and suspension tweaks that promise to deliver "exceptional dynamic characteristics."

The cars will have a new grille, revised headlights and modified bumpers. We can also expect LED daytime running lights, red brake calipers and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior will also get a makeover as it adopts Recaro sport seats, alloy pedals and bespoke surface materials for an "engaging, performance-oriented ambience."
