Audi invites students to envision the future of automotive design

In an effort to encourage the next-generation of automotive designers, Audi recently hosted a Design UNIverse event in Ingolstadt.

Students from four European Universities - the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (Slovakia), Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan (Italy), the Offenbach University of Art and Design (Germany) and the Royal College of Art London (Great Britain) - were tapped to create models of a futuristic Audi which embraces "Vorsprung Durch Technik." As part of the process, designers worked closely with the students and talked about design trends and making emotional products.

42 students took part in the event and created 46 different models which took mobility, materials and emotion into consideration. According to Audi, "[The] students’ models were innovative and uniquely interdisciplinary – smart solutions that blend automotive design with textile design, art and nature as inspiration."

While the designs won't be showing up on the road anytime soon, Audi hinted that events such as this are "an excellent opportunity to recruit young professionals."
