Former Porsche CEO opens pizza chain

Ex Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking has founded the Vialino pizza and pasta restaurant chain.

He was Porsche's chief executive officer for 16 years but in 2009 it all came to an end. The 60-year-old man reoriented and now has founded a restaurant chain that will have outlets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The first Vialino restaurant will be opened next month in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Wiedeking made his first million before turning 30 while active in real estate, and after leaving Porsche he invested in many types of businesses, such as real estate and shoes. He also has an eatery in his Westphalian hometown of Beckum.

Although he was credited for reviving Porsche during the 90s, the firm almost collapsed three years ago due to a high amount of debt gathered after an unsuccessful attempt to seize control of Volkswagen. He was laid off while the holding firm sold the car making business to the Volkswagen Group.
