Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko has revealed some new details about the company's turnaround plan which aims to increase U.S. sales by 45 percent.

Under the plan, Mitsubishi will introduce two new models in America. The redesigned Outlander will arrive in July, while the Mirage will be launched in September. A few months later, the company will introduce the Outlander plug-in hybrid which averages an impressive 143.5 mpg US (172.3 mpg UK or 1.6 liters / 100 km).

It remains unclear if the move will be enough to reverse Mitsubishi's sagging sales, but new products are desperately needed if the company doesn't want to follow Suzuki's path.

In related news, Masuko confirmed plans to offer an electric version of the Mirage. It is unlikely to be offered in America because the company has only managed to sell 469 i-MiEVs through the first ten months of the year.
