The Quadski by GIBBS has entered production. About 1,000 units will be built in Detroit next year.
The GIBBS Quadski has entered production phase and it’s being manufactured at a new factory in Detroit. About 200 people will be working next year when full production capacity will be achieved.
They plan on building around 1,000 units in 2013 of the Quadski, a high-speed sports amphibian that can reach a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h) on both land and water. Priced at 40,000 USD, the Quadski is powered by a BMW Motorrad engine with 175 hp (130 kW) and weighs 1,300 pounds (590 kg). It comes with a 15-gallon fuel tank and needs five seconds to make the transition from land to water or viceversa.
