Audi plans on launching the more practical 5-door variant of the S3 next year. Will keep the same engine.
Audi will launch next year the more practical five-door S3 Sportback, after the three-door version goes on sale in early 2013.
It will retain the same 2.0-liter, direct-injection turbocharged TFSI engine that produces 296 hp (220 kw) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque, making it 35 hp (26 kW) and 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) more powerful than the previous model. Power is sent to all four wheels via the standard six-speed manual or the optional dual clutch S tronic gearbox.
While the outgoing S3 sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.8 seconds, the new version can do it in 5.1 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). When fitted with the manual, the 2013 S3 returns 34.1 mpg (41 mpg UK or 6.9 liters / 100 km), while with the S tronic achieves 33.6 mpg (40.3 mpg UK or 7 liters / 100 km).
