Ford has introduced the 2013 Transit Connect Wagon, a new seven-seat variant that promises to return 30+ mpg US (36 mpg UK or 7.8 liters / 100 km).
The Blue Oval is anticipating that the MPV will be able to achieve this mpg figure on the highway when equipped with an EcoBoost engine. It will be offered with a choice of three trim levels (XL, XLT, Titanium) and two wheelbase lengths. It features fold-flat seating and has a payload of up to 1,200 pounds (544 kg), while the towing capacity is rated at up to 2,000 pounds (907 kg).
It will be available with a standard 4-cylinder 2.5-liter engine or an optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost, with both of them being connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission “geared for around-town responsiveness and low-rpm highway cruising.”
It is able to accommodate various combinations of people and cargo thanks to its 60/40 three-passenger second-row, as well as fold-flat second- and third-row seating with third-row independent fore-and-aft sliding capability. Features include a full-glass panoramic roof, 6.5-inch touchscreen display with navigation, rear view camera and an electric windshield defroster.
