The impressive custom Bentley Meteor created by engineer Bob Petersen and showcased in a Top Gear episode is now for sale at Coys.
Priced at 500,000 pounds, the car is powered by a huge V12 27-liter Rolls-Royce Meteor engine that was derived from the Merlin engine found in the legendary Spitfire. To our surprise, the car is road legal but it’s quite expensive to drive it since filling the 400-liter fuel tank costs approximately 550 pounds and it only does 2 or 3 mpg.
This 19-foot long machine pumps out 850 hp (634 kW) and is able to hit a top speed of 160 mph (257 km/h). To turn it on, the driver has to flick the twin magneto switches borrowed from a Lancaster bomber and after that push the Spitfire-sourced starter button.
