A prototype of the upcoming 2013 BMW 4-Series GranCoupe has been spied while undergoing some testing at the Nurburgring.

Today we bring you video footage of the upcoming BMW 4-Series GranCoupe that will be launched sometime next year. The main idea behind this car is to bridge the gap between the 3- and 5-Series while adopting the recipe that BMW used for the 6-Series GranCoupe. In other words, we are dealing with a car that will be based on the 4-Series Coupe but with two rear doors and a longer wheelbase.

It will be available with just about the same engines as the standard model, meaning that it will probably get a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged unit with 181 hp (135 kW) and a beefier inline-six 3.0-liter with 315 hp (235 kW), among other powertrains.
