Citroën has announced plans to introduce the Berlingo Electric at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany.

Designed to appeal to business customers, the van features a 22.5 kWh battery which powers an electric motor that develops 67 HP (49 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to travel up to 106 miles (170 km) on a single charge.

When the battery is depleted, it can be fully recharged in approximately 6-12 hours with a standard household outlet. If you're in a rush, the quick-charge mode can give the battery an 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.

Since the electric powertrain is packaged under the hood and body shell, the van has a cargo capacity of 4.1 cubic meters (145 cubic feet) and a payload capacity of 675 kg (1488 lbs).

The Berlingo Electric will go on sale in 2013 and pricing will be announced closer launch.
