2013 SRT Viper pricing starts at $97,395 - new photos and video

Chrysler has announced the pricing information for the 2013 SRT Viper and Viper GTS.

Chrysler has announced the pricing information for the 2013 SRT Viper and Viper GTS. The entry-level model has a MSRP of $97,395, not taking into account the $1,995 destination charges. As for the GTS model, this begins from $120,395 without the destination fee.

Both models are motivated by a mid-front, all-aluminum V10 8.4-liter engine with 640 hp (477 kW) and 600 lb-ft (812 Nm) of torque, providing the highest amount of torque among naturally-aspirated sports cars, according to SRT. This power unit is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that delivers the power to the rear wheels through a speed-sensing limited slip differential.

To make it lighter than the model it replaced, SRT used a tubular space frame that has a magnesium cowl while the hood, roof and liftgate are made from carbon fiber. The doors are manufactured from aluminum while the quarter panels are from plastic, enabling the entry-level model to have a curb weight of only 3,354 lbs (1,521 kg), making it about 100 lbs (45 kg) lighter than the previous model.

The production of the 2013 Viper is expected to commence this November at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit where they made all the Vipers, while the order books will open in mid-November.
