McLaren Special Operations has developed six bespoke MP4-12Cs that have some styling changes compared to the regular model.
Criticized by some people because its design is not as exciting as it should be for a supercar, the McLaren MP4-12C has received a mild makeover. Some of the customers in Chicago wanted something a little bit different in terms of design so the local dealer teamed up with McLaren Special Operations to develop six bespoke MP4-12Cs.
All six cars are part of the Project Alpha program and the photos from this leaked brochure show us the changes made by the company. Jalopnik managed to grab one of the brochures from a reader and then contacted McLaren to find out what’s what. The body modifications for the MP4-12C include gloss black accents for the roof, splitter and the rear deck, along with fender louvers, carbon fiber accents and Alcantara for the interior. As the images show, the cars are wearing the automaker’s usual white, orange and grey paint finishes.
All of these cars are 2012MY but they will get the performance boost of the 2013MY. McLaren plans on making two cars of each color, all of them pumping out 616 hp (459 kW). These special MP4-12Cs have been created by the same team responsible for the peculiar X-1 revealed about two weeks ago at Pebble Beach.
