The French automaker Citroen has confirmed yesterday the death of Philippe Bugalski, a former driver of the company's WRC team. Originally from Vichy in central France, Bugalski died on Friday after an unfortunate fall at his home located in the Seine-et-Marne region, east of France.

Nicknamed "bug", he signed with Citroen back in 1998 and one year later in Catalonia he managed to give the automaker its first win behind the wheel of a Xsara Kit Car, while after that he also managed to win in Corsica. Bugalski retired from professional rallying in 2003.

Sebastian Loeb said in a statement for Citroen that: "I feel really upset by this tragic news. We've just lost somebody who was incredibly special." The reigning world champion also added that "Bug was a person with huge spirit, who had time and warmth for everyone."

May he rest in peace.
