A 2013 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE has managed to do a lap of the Virginia International Raceway "Grand Course" in 2:58.34. This performance was achieved by Aaron Link who is one of the engineers working on the Camaro. A few months ago he drove the 2012 Camaro ZL1 around the same track in 2:52.4. This latest run was achieved with a production-spec Camaro SS fitted with the 1LE package. The only modifications made to the car were a race seat and a roll cage.
As a reminder, this 1LE package is offered exclusively for the 2013 Camaro 1SS and 2 SS coupe models. Under the hood there's a 6.2-liter engine producing 426 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. The 1LE model is sold with a six-speed manual gearbox and comes with 20-inch alloys covered by Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires.
This 1LE package also brings a sport-tuned suspension, an electronic power steering system and a strut tower brace. That six-speed manual transmission is an exclusive Tremec TR6060-MM6 unit that benefits from an air-to-liquid cooling system and has a 3.91 final-drive ratio.
The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro with the 1LE package is scheduled to go on sale this fall with prices starting from $37,035, including the $900 destination charge.
