Daimler AG and automotive manufacturing firm Valmet Automotive have announced the Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact model will be built at Valmet's Uusikaupunki, Finland facility from 2013 to 2016.

In addition to A-Class production already underway at Daimler's own manufacturing facilities in Rastatt, Germany since July, Valmet will contribute to the total production count of more than 100,000 A-Class premium compact vehicles during the three year term.

Unable to cope with demand for the new model at it's own plants, as reflected by the 40,000 orders already placed, Daimler confirmed that an outsourced partner was needed.

For Valmet, the agreement means it can re-hire the temporarily laid-off employees (in average some 300-400 employees in 2012) and hire hundreds of new employees from 2014 onwards depending on the final development of the assembly volumes.
