The 2014 Maserati Quattroporte has been caught on a fair number of occasions by our army of spy photographers but engineers have fed our frustrations by keep the models under thick layers of camouflage. Fortunately these designs that were allegedly filed with the European Patent Office have tentatively revealed what the final production will look like.

It reveals the model will continue to sport a conventional four-door sedan body style while maintaining the brands signature front end design, albeit with a few new-generation updates.

Under the hood, rumors suggest a choice of two powerful engines will be available. The entry level supercharged V6 will generate approximately 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) while the powerful supercharged V8 unit will pump around 520 hp (388 kW / 527 PS).. The power will be routed to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive or optional all-wheel drive system.

The new Maserati Quattroporte is due to be launched in 2013 following an anticipated debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
