Opel has official released the first images and details of the brand new ADAM, a model they describe as their first fashionable urban car. The three door boasts a retro-based style that has been designed to compete with rivals such as the Fiat 500 and MINI.
It's dimensions measure 3.7 meters length and 1.72 meters width which isslightly larger than the 500, but almost identical to the MINI hatch. It provides enough room to seat four people in what is described as a premium level atmosphere.
Three retro-named trim levels are set to be made available: JAM (fashionable and colorful trim), GLAM (elegant, refined and sophisticated trim) and SLAM (energetic and sporty trim). Each is highly customizable allowing customers to order a truly unique car.
A choice of three different powertrain options will be available at launch, all of which are mated with a five-speed manual transmission and can include the ecoFLEX technology pack that boasts fuel-saving Start/Stop technology. The entry level unit will be 1.2 liter engine producing 70PS (51kW/69hp) while a 1.4 liter unit will be offered at two power outputs: 87PS (64kW/86hp) and 100PS (74kW/99hp).
We are told the ADAM will also benefit from a new generation turbocharged unit at some point in the future and it will come with a brand new six-speed manual transmission system.
